Biography
José Ignacio (Nacho) Giménez-Nadal is Full Professor of Economic Analysis at the University of Zaragoza (Spain) and a member of the Institute for Employment, Digital Society and Sustainability (IEDIS). He received his PhD in Economics (Cum Laude) from the University of Zaragoza in 2010. During his doctoral and early postdoctoral years, he was a visiting researcher at ISER (University of Essex) and a research assistant at the Centre for Time Use Research (University of Oxford).
His research lies at the intersection of labor economics and the economics of the household. Using time-use surveys, he studies how individuals and couples allocate time between paid work, unpaid work, childcare, commuting and leisure. He focuses on gender gaps, work-from-home and flexible work arrangements, household labor supply, self-employment, commuting and well-being. His work has appeared in journals such as The Economic Journal, European Economic Review, Labour Economics, Journal of Population Economics, Demography, Feminist Economics, Oxford Economic Papers and Oxford Review of Economic Policy, as well as in IZA World of Labor.
Since 2017 he has been Editor of the Review of Economics of the Household (Springer), and he received the Springer Nature Editorial Contribution Award in 2025. He has served on the scientific committees of the SEHO meetings and the Australian Gender Economics Workshop, and has co-supervised doctoral theses in labor and household economics.
